How to get to Tower Bridge
How to get to Tower Bridge depends on the bank you want to reach and whether you are crossing at street level or visiting the ticketed interior. Tower Hill is a useful starting point on the north side, while London Bridge station connects with the south bank and the Engine Rooms area. Tower Pier offers a river arrival near the Tower of London.
Decide which visit you have planned before choosing your route. The bridge's towers and walkways are separate from the Tower of London, and crossing the roadway on foot is separate from the interior. See the ticket guide for entry options and allow time to find the entrance named on your booking.

Tower Hill and London Bridge stations
Tower Hill is served by the District and Circle lines. The bridge operator gives a walk of about 500 metres, or seven minutes, from the station to the ticket office. The station has step-free access from platform to street. This is a practical approach for the north tower and for combining the bridge with the Tower of London.
London Bridge station has Jubilee and Northern line services as well as National Rail connections. The bridge operator gives around one kilometre from the station to the Engine Rooms entrance and describes step-free access from train to street. This south-bank approach is useful when your itinerary also includes HMS Belfast or Shad Thames. The Engine Rooms entrance is not the same destination as the north tower ticket office.
Fenchurch Street is another rail connection for the Tower area. Check the station exits and your onward walking route before departure, especially if you have luggage or need a lift. Station access does not guarantee that every lift at the bridge will be operating on the day. Read the interior visit guide for the route through the towers.
Bus and local travel
The bridge operator lists bus routes 15, 42, 78, 100 and 343 for the area. Check the direction and stop before setting out: its visitor information also notes a closure of the Tower of London bus stop without specifying an end date. Service changes can affect where you alight, so use current journey information for your date.
For Tube and bus journeys, check the current fare for your route and payment method. If you have a timed bridge ticket, allow enough time to reach the correct entrance after leaving the station or bus. A bridge lift can also interrupt the crossing, so consider which side of the river your next appointment is on.
Arrival at Tower Pier
Tower Pier is near the Tower of London. Check the pier and operator named on your booking, because Tower Pier and Tower Bridge Quay are different places. A river bus single is a one-way local journey, so check the direction and departure before boarding. From the pier, continue on foot towards the north side of the bridge.
For wider route ideas and sightseeing on the water, see River Thames boat trips. Keep the river journey separate from any ticket for the bridge interior or the Tower of London.
Taxi and transfer from London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
For an airport arrival, arrange a taxi or transfer to the address you actually need, rather than simply giving the driver the name of the bridge. Specify the north or south bank, the number of passengers and your luggage when requesting a quote. Check the pickup instructions at Heathrow and the terms for waiting time, changes and any child seats before booking.
If you have a timed entry, leave room between arrival and your booked slot. Road conditions and the time needed after landing can vary. Check your planned drop-off point and finish the journey on foot where local stopping restrictions apply.
Reserve your transfer from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Central London in advance on Kiwitaxi.
Driving and parking
Parking options named for the Tower area include Tower Hill Car and Coach Park at 50 Lower Thames Street and Minories. Check current availability, vehicle rules and charges with the car park. Tower Bridge Road is a Red Route, so observe local signs and restrictions rather than planning to stop on the bridge for photographs.
London's Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone are separate schemes. Whether you owe a charge depends on your route, vehicle and applicable rules. Check both before driving, including the treatment of vehicles registered abroad, and verify your parking destination against the current zone map.
