Tower Bridge opening hours and last entry
Tower Bridge opening hours for the interior are normally 09:30 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:00. The attraction closes on 24 to 26 December and opens at 10:00 on 1 January. Check the date before making plans, especially around those exceptions. The public crossing at road level and the ticketed visit to the towers are different experiences.
Choose a time that leaves space for the full route, not just the view through the glass floor. Your ticket is tied to a date and time, and entry is subject to its conditions. The ticket guide explains booking and the difference between a direct admission and an offer from a partner.

Plan the visit around your entry time
Admission includes the towers, upper walkways and Victorian Engine Rooms. An entry ticket is an option for seeing the interior; it does not reserve a bridge lift. Check the terms and selected time when booking, then plan the journey to the North Tower. A ticket does not promise a priority queue, so allow some flexibility before and after your slot.
Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you use a sightseeing pass, reserve the bridge visit in advance as required for pass holders. The London Pass comparison explains how that differs from the procedure at the Tower of London.

Tower Bridge admission
Plan a visit to the upper walkways and Engine Rooms.
From the North Tower to the Engine Rooms
The interior route starts in the North Tower. From there, visitors reach both upper walkways, descend through the South Tower and follow the Blue Line to the Engine Rooms. Part of the way to the machinery is outdoors, so bring suitable layers if the weather is changeable. The glass floor and museum guide describes the route and practical facilities in more detail.
Allow approximately 60 to 90 minutes as a planning guide. Your own visit may take a different amount of time depending on how long you spend at the windows, on the glass floors and with the machinery displays. Leave a margin if you have another timed booking afterwards. A visit near last entry still needs to fit within the attraction's closing time.
Relaxed Opening
On the second Saturday of each month, Relaxed Opening runs from 09:30 to 11:30, with last entry at 11:10. This reduced-capacity session is designed particularly for neurodivergent visitors. Check the date and available tickets when planning. It is a specific session rather than a promise that every visit at that hour will be quiet.
Lift availability can change at short notice. If a lift is important to your route, check the current information before travelling and speak to staff on arrival. The bridge has lifts in both towers, and an external lift on the south-east side connects bridge and river levels for the Engine Rooms and shop.
Bridge lifts and possible delays
The roadway opens for eligible river traffic. During a lift, road traffic and people crossing the moving sections are held back, and entry to the attraction can also be delayed. A ship's scheduled time is not a guaranteed length of interruption. Check the bridge lift guide if you hope to watch from the riverbank, and keep your plans flexible around a timed visit.
Seeing the bridge outside in the evening
An evening walk offers a different view of the structure and river after the interior closes. Plan it as an outdoor visit, with the weather and your return route in mind. The illumination in a photograph does not establish a fixed lighting time or an evening interior opening. Tower Wharf has its own access hours and can close for events, so check your route rather than assuming every riverside path will remain open.
For a longer day, consider the Tower of London separately. It has its own admission and schedule. Choosing which attraction to visit first can help avoid making the final part of the bridge route a rush.
Opening hours: questions and answers
When is the last regular entry?
Last entry is normally at 17:00, before the attraction closes at 18:00. Check the date and your ticket for any changes.
Does a ticket guarantee a bridge lift?
No. Lifts are arranged for ships and can change. An interior ticket is for the visitor route, not a lift reservation.
Can I visit at Christmas?
The interior is closed from 24 to 26 December. On 1 January it opens at 10:00.
How long should I allow?
About 60 to 90 minutes is a useful guide for the towers, walkways and Engine Rooms. Allow extra flexibility for your journey and any delay.
